Gary Marchant

Gary Marchant were a grind band named after a science teacher. Although they were only around for a relatively short space of time, they played regularly in the Sunderland area and occasionally in Newcastle. At one point they supported Napalm Death. They have also played about 4 farewell gigs (so far), several months apart. Their most recent farewell gig was in August 2011 with Burial and Crabsu.

Initially I was asked to do a logo for them, but I eventually invited them to play the aforementioned gig and also decided to re-release their only recording, Pilldust Paradox EP along with T-shirts and patches.

The original logo was drawn with black ink and a wooden kebab skewer. It was an absolute nightmare to turn it into a stencil...

However, it was totally worth it for the spray-painted final product. These are black 3" CD-Rs which have a white printable surface, perfect for black spray paint. The covers are black card sprayed white giving a negative version of the usual logo.

Handwriting all the tracklistings was another pain in the arse. I'm glad it was limited to 30 copies. There are currently only about 4 copies left, but plenty of shirts and patches. Order here.
